Collective Agreement

The subject of this workshop is one of the four core topics that the Joint Learning Program has chosen to highlight. It will enhance your understanding of what the a collective agreement is, what it contains and how to interpret it.

During the workshop, participants are will be introduced to an easy, four-step approach to collective agreement interpretation. They will practise using the four-step model, while considering the "intention of the parties" and identifying aids to interpretation. They will also learn how to interpret and apply the collective agreement to actual workplace situations using previously adjudicated cases. The deconstructing Deconstructing of actual cases strengthens the ability to solve problems through analysis and discussion.

This session demystifies the collective agreement and provides participants with the necessary basic skills for ongoing, self-directed learning. The process is highly participatory and promotes dialogue and understanding as key components of workplace problem solving.
