This core project offered through the PSAC-PSHRMAC Joint Learning Program reflects the parties’ commitment to work together to

Employment Equity

This workshop addresses one of the core topics that the Joint Learning Program has chosen to highlight and it reflects the commitment from both the employer and the union to a diverse and inclusive Federal Public Service.

During this one-day workshop, participants will familiarize themselves with the purpose and benefits of the Employment Equity Act and examine the myths and realities associated with its implementation. The participants attending this workshop will also acquire a better understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities of all parties in the application of the Act.

Through interactive activities and open dialogue, this workshop will help PSAC members and their managers to work together to create a positive climate for employment equity initiatives.

““It is not that individuals
in the designated groups are
inherently unable to achieve
equality on their own, it
is that obstacles in their
way are so formidable and
self-perpetuating that they
cannot be overcome without
intervention. It is both
intolerable and insensitive
if we simply wait and hope
that the barriers will
disappear with time. Equality
in employment will not happen
unless we make it happen.”
