Employment equity initiatives build positive and inclusive workplaces.
This one-day workshop will allow you to develop an understanding of the Employment Equity Act. It will review the roles and responsibilities of labour and management in its application and will foster discussion about how employment equity benefits all employees.
The workshop will also challenge some common myths about employment equity, the progress that has been made since the passage of the law and the ground that remains to be covered. Most importantly, you will work together as a group to ensure employment equity initiatives can be implemented in a way to create real and lasting equality in the workplace. If you are a member of an employment equity committee, this workshop is a must!
The objectives of the workshop are
- To increase participants’ understanding of the Employment Equity Act, its purpose and benefits to all employees, and the respective roles and responsibilities of the parties in applying the Act
- To identify and challenge some of the myths associated with employment equity
- To develop ways to work together to bring about an improved climate for employment equity initiatives in the federal Public Service
- To produce work tools that will guide the consultation processes and related practices
The audience for this workshop is union members of the Core Public Administration and their supervisors and managers.
