Questions and Answers for Participants

How do I register for a workshop?

If you have been sent a workshop number, you can register by clicking on the Register for a Workshop link

Otherwise, Joint Learning Program (JLP) does not accept registrations directly from individual employees. JLP workshops are organized within federal government workplaces for Union members of the Core Public Administration and their management counterparts.  If your department is organizing a workshop and you have received an invitation to attend, you would normally indicate directly to the organizers your interest in attending.

If you are interested in organizing a workshop in your workplace, please visit our Organizing a Workshop section.

Who can participate?

The JLP specifically targets Union members and their counterpart managers.

How are workshops scheduled?

The JLP does not schedule workshops.  Instead, the JLP responds to requests to hold a workshop in a workplace.  To request a workshop, both Union and management representatives at any level jointly submit a request for a workshop through the JLP website. Once approved by the JLP, the event is posted on the JLP calendar.

I will be participating in a JLP workshop.  What should I expect?

JLP workshops have been designed to create opportunities for dialogue between Union members and their supervisors and managers.  In a JLP workshop, you will be invited to participate in a number of learning activities that include small group discussions, case studies, analysis, and planning.  The workshop will be co-facilitated by a union and an employer facilitator whose role is to draw on the knowledge in the group to build a common understanding of the theme under discussion.

You can expect many opportunities to share your ideas and experience.  Please come prepared to share and to learn more about your colleagues in a safe learning environment.

What do I need to bring with me?

Except for a pen and paper, JLP will supply the learning materials you need at the workshop.
