Quebec Region: Portrait of two JLP facilitators

The success of the JLP is based on the dedication of our facilitators. This Fall, while a number of recognition certificates were presented to facilitators from across Canada, the Quebec region recognized two facilitators who reached the milestone of having delivered 50 workshops. We are pleased to present you their profiles.

Danielle Dubuc has been involved with the union for nearly 25 years. She has been a member of the PSAC National Human Rights Committeeand she has been a human rights activist both in the workplace and within the greater labour movement. She is a committed and passionate person, always ready to roll up her sleeves to ensure that the members’ issues are brought forward. Throughout her career, she has held several union positions, within her own local as well as for the Quebec Region. She has served on the General Council of the Fédération des travailleurs et des travailleuses du Québec (FTQ), participated on labour-management diversity consultation committees, was a member of a Canadian delegation on mission in Congo in order to address violence against women and, a few years ago, was elected vice president for Workers of Colour of the Canadian Labour Congress. Despite a schedule already filled with professional responsibilities at the Canada Border Services Agency, her family and her union and social involvement, Danielle thought it was important to work on building positive labour-management relations by joining the JLP team. It is after participating in an orientation session in Cornwall in 2006 that she became a facilitator. Since then, she has co-facilitated more than 50 workshops and her remarkable skills have allowed her to act as a "mentor" to many new JLP facilitators.

Andrée Damphousse completed the orientation session to become a facilitator in November 2006. Since the beginning of her involvement with the JLP, she had the opportunity to co-facilitate more than 50 workshops, such as Labour-Management Consultation, Creating a Harassment-Free Workplace and Understanding the Collective Agreement. Always eager to surpass her own limits and to develop her skills, Andrée recently enrolled in the training that will allow her to facilitate the workshop on Mental Health in the Workplace, a subject that is close to her heart. What prompted Andrée to join the JLP community was, among other things, her belief that the discussions between the parties during the workshops would contribute to the overall improvement of communication and a deeper understanding of each other’s roles and mutual respect. Throughout the years, Andrée has gained great credibility with everyone she has had the opportunity to co-facilitate workshops with. Some say that she is a pillar, a “quiet strength” on which the JLP can always rely. Andrée is always available to the JLP community and has become a "mentor" to many other facilitators.
