May 17: The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

The theme for 2020’s International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is Breaking the Silence. In these times of fear, uncertainty and physical distancing, Pride celebrations across the world are being cancelled for fear of becoming vectors of infection. The challenge of breaking the silence in a world of isolation is a new one.

The most recent Public Service Employee Survey reveals that 29% of employees who are gender diverse still experience harassment at work. So too do bisexual employees (18%) and those who identify as lesbian or gay (15%).

Now more than ever, we need to recognize the diversity around us, in our work force, in our families, and embrace and celebrate it.

The JLP is proud to help promote a diverse and discrimination-free public service. Through its various workshops, the JLP fosters diversity and inclusion, respect for differences, the fight against discrimination and the prevention of harassment and violence against LGBTQ2+ people.
