Respecting Differences/Anti-discrimination
1-Day Workshop
This one-day workshop aims to raise awareness about the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and introduce unionized employees and their managers to practical skills and effective strategies for building a discrimination-free workplace.
Workshop Objectives
The objectives of the workshops are:
- Engage unionized employees and managers in examining the benefits of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at work.
- Enhance participants’ knowledge of privilege and power as elements of systemic discrimination.
- Familiarize participants with key anti-discrimination terms and the difference between individual, institutional, and systemic discrimination.
- Give participants space to critically reflect on race and racism in North America and how these concepts show up in their lives.
- Share helpful skills and existing legislation/policies that can help in challenging discriminatory behaviours at work.
- Examine everyone’s roles and responsibilities in maintaining a work environment that is free from discrimination.
Target Audience
The audience for this workshop is Union members of the Core Public Administration and their supervisors and managers.
