International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is March 21, 2023. Despite increased public awareness and media attention, discrimination against people who are Black, Indigenous or people of colour remains shockingly present in society.
Since its launch in May 2021, the JLP’s guided discussion, Anti-Racism: Let’s Talk! has been delivered over 250 times. Its popularity reflects the need to have uncomfortable conversations about racism and how to be anti-racist. Although these conversations can be difficult and awkward, it is through this discomfort that we learn and grow.
To explore anti-racist resources that focus on Canada, you can visit the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s page of resources, or the Canadian Government’s list of anti-racism materials.
The JLP is proud to take part in the conversation around addressing and preventing racial discrimination in the federal public service through its workshops and guided discussions.
