PSAC National Triennial Convention a success for JLP

The recent Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) National Triennial Convention took place May 27 – 31 at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, and the JLP was there. During the Convention, nearly 600 delegates elected new leadership, adopted important resolutions and learned about many services and programs available to members of the PSAC.A woman taking a selfie smiles into the camera. Behind her, two other women standing at the JLP kiosk smile into the camera as well.

Over the days of the convention, dozens of attendees dropped by the JLP kiosk to learn about the JLP in-person workshops and virtual discussions, to express their appreciation for the program and to attest to its positive effects in the workplace. It was an especially great opportunity to meet many former and current facilitators who offer the program their time and energy above and beyond their regular 9-5 duties.  The Program could never offer its services without its exceptional facilitators!

JLP co-directors Catherine Gilbert (union) and Roxanne Lépine (employer) were joined by Regional Field Coordinator Michèle Parent (union) of the National Capital region at the kiosk to chat with attendees – public-service employees invested and involved in their union – about the Joint Learning Program.

Along with their expressions of interest and appreciation, many attendees applied to become JLP facilitators on the spot. The JLP is honoured to attend these events to discuss its approach with attendees, and ways to explore topics of importance to public-service employees.
