The JLP launches an updated Duty to Accommodate in-person workshop and a brand-new virtual discussion

The JLP is excited to announce the launch of the refreshed Duty to Accommodate in-person workshop first launched in 2012, to better reflect present-day public-service realities. In addition, the JLP is introducing a new virtual discussion, Duty to Accommodate: Let’s Talk!, offering an alternative way to engage on this important topic.

The one-day in-person workshop offers an introductory yet comprehensive look at workplace accommodation, helping participants build a shared understanding of the duty to accommodate within the federal public service.

The workshop aims to:

  •        Familiarize participants with the legislation, obligations, and founding principles of the duty to accommodate.
  •        Share terminology and concepts central to workplace accommodation theory and practice.
  •        Identify and challenge some of the misinformation and disinformation surrounding the duty to accommodate.
  •        Increase participants’ confidence when collaborating on reasonable and meaningful accommodation measures in the workplace.

For those seeking a shorter, interactive learning experience, the new 3.5-hour virtual discussion provides an opportunity for productive explorations on creating a barrier-free workplace. Participants will engage in conversations and reflections designed to enhance their understanding of the accommodation process and best practices in the workplace.

With new materials, new concepts and a new virtual discussion, the JLP is confident that participants will find both learning experiences enriching and informative.
