The Six Ps of the JLP
This monthin our series honouring the JLP’s 25th anniversary, we’d like to shine a spotlight on the inner workings that make the Program special.
The JLP’s unique approach to learning is guided by our core values, which we call the six Ps. The six core values of the JLP, the Six Ps, guide our unique approach to learning, shape our decisions, strengthen our partnerships, and inspire our workplaces.
1. Partnership and Parity
The JLP embodies the power of partnership! Shared leadership and fair collaboration between unions and management, built on trust, respect, and balanced influence in decision-making is what steers our course.
2. People-Centered
We place people at the heart of our approach. We value inclusion, humanity, accessibility, and respect for diverse lived experiences. We are always looking for ways to make our processes and our policies more inclusive.
3. Positive Learning
We create safe and stimulating learning environments that foster dialogue, curiosity, and collective growth. Positive learning means all participants have a chance to speak, and that the space is as respectful, inclusive and safe as possible.
4. Play and Innovation
Learning can be fun! Our learning activities are designed to encourage creativity, experimentation and enjoyment as drivers of dynamic learning and adaptation to changing realities.
5. Purpose, Relevance and Impact
We align our actions with the strategic priorities of the public service and the labour movement, with a constant focus on measurable and lasting impact. Our learning activities are innovative and cutting-edge, relevant to present-day issues for public-service employees.
6. Promotion, Visibility, and Shared Identity
We promote joint learning through inclusive, bilingual, and coherent communication. This includes keeping up to date on changes in inclusive language and practices, and always striving to improve the usability of our website. You can find our kiosks at many public-service and union events, and we’re always happy to talk about the latest JLP news!
