Launch of New JLP Workshop - Preventing Harassment and Violence in the Workplace

In the last few years, there have been many legal developments on harassment and violence in the workplace, including the adoption of Bill C-65 in October 2018.

Following consultations with experts from employer and unions on the objectives and learning activities, the JLP has developed a workshop that will reflect the new legal landscape.

The new one-day workshop, which will be available for delivery in July 2019, is intended to raise awareness about what is harassment and violence in the workplace. It will examine the new Canada Labour Code health and safety provisions on harassment and violence and the human rights framework under the Canadian Human Rights Act.

Precedent setting cases will be reviewed through case studies and the respective roles and responsibilities of the union, the employer and individual employees will be clarified. Finally, participants will explore options on how they can deal with harassment when it occurs in their workplace and identify ways to create a safe, healthy, inclusive and respectful workplace.

We look forward to working with you to bring this cutting-edge workshop in your workplace. There is no cost. Your time and availability is all that is required.
