Welcome to 18 new JLP facilitators
The JLP welcomed 18 new facilitators at the JLP Orientation Session in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, October 28th to November 1st, 2019. Fourteen public service employees from the Prairies/NWT Region, and four from the Ontario/Nunavut region are now part of the JLP family.

The JLP had the opportunity to host a kiosk at the Regional Conference of Visible Racial Minorities in Orford, Quebec, from November 1 to 3, 2019. The theme was “Equity for all: get equipped to make changes”.

December 10th, 2019 marks the International Day of Human Rights. It recognizes the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rightsthat calls for all to be champions for human dignity, equality and rights.

On November 13, the JLP Co-Directors, Catherine Gilbert and Roxanne Lépine, participated in the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE), held in Ottawa. The AGM theme was diversity in the workplace.

December 6th marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, in commemoration of the 14 young women who were killed 30 years ago at École Polytechnique de Montreal, because they were women.

World Mental Health Day – October 10
Every year since 1992, the World Mental Health Day is observed across the world on October 10th at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health. On this day, the JLP invite its partners to reflect on ways to promote psychologically safe and healthy workplaces on this day and every other day.

Promoting JLP at CIRNAC Event
The JLP was honoured to host a kiosk at the Crown- Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada’s (CIRNAC) Intersecting Voices launch on October 1st in Gatineau, Quebec. Labour Day 2019
September 2, 2019 marks Labour Day which officially celebrates workers and the labour union movement. Also known as International Worker’s Day, it is marked with a public holiday in over 80 countries.

The JLP at the 2019 Career Boot Camp in Toronto
The Canada School of Public Service, in partnership with the Federal Youth Network, co-hosted the Career Boot Camp 2019 on Thursday March 7, 2019, at the University of Toronto.
The JLP was invited to host a kiosk and share Program and workshop information with over 200 enthusiastic future leaders. For many, the JLP and its role of improving labour-management relations in the public service was new to them.

JLP welcomes new facilitators from CFIA
The JLP is very proud to welcome 17 new facilitators under a pilot partnership agreement between JLP (Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)-Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS)), the PSAC Agriculture Union, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
CFIA managers and employees participated in a JLP Orientation Session to learn facilitation skills for the delivery of JLP workshops in their organization throughout Canada. The learning activity took place in Ottawa, Ontario from February 25 to March 1st.
